12 November 2007 Leaderboard

These scores are after Monday nights game. They look like they're the final scores for the weekend.
Don and the Magicians temporarily held second and third spots respectively over Sunday night, but the performance of Alexander Hleb (10 points) has pushed Shaybee and Sonya back into their rightful(?) positions again, though Shaybee has passed out Sonya into second spot, albeit by a couple of points.
Pat Murphy on top of the table as usual lost a little ground on the closing pack this weekend again. They're quietly going about their business, but I expect them to have one big week now soon, and reopen the gap that he held previously. It's so frustrating when he's just sitting up there on top, grinding out results.
The big movers of the week were the Hammers XI with a super 40 points. All players contributed to his points, but that goal by Nicky Shorey, just before the death of the Reading v Arsenal game meant that he leapfrogged over two players in one foul swoop.
Mairead however continues to tumble down the table. I hear she's back from her leave of absence, and has taken the reigns of her team again, so they'll surely start to make up for lost ground in the near future.
Dermot Mc has started to resurrect his team from the foot of the table, climbing two places this week, and will pass his ailing brother soon if the current form prevails. But then there's a gap emerging to the next position in the table. It may take till Christmas to make that move ... but he's looking confident for the near future.
But in truth, it's tight for everyone in the bottom five. Nobody wants to be down there in that pitched battle.
The Inter-transfer competition is only in it's second week, but already a trend is emerging as three teams have blistered away from the other, all on 81 points. There aren't many challengers yet, but we all remember what happened at Christmas last year when Pat golden came with a late charge to take glory with some huge scores. It can and will happen very easily again.

  • No games next weekend because there's international games going on ... so we'll have to wait for two weeks before the next bout of pushing and shoving.
